SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

For The

"2018" North State Writers Anthology


Accepting Submissions Through JAN 15, 2018:  The North State Writers (NSW) 2018 Anthology will be published on Amazon Books and made available for purchase in the spring. The NSW Anthology is a collection of literary works (short stories, poems, and memoirs) juried (selected) by professional reviewers.  As a member of the North State Writers and Nor-Cal CWC, you are invited to submit up to three short stories, poetry, and/or memoirs.  Each accepted contributor will be able to purchase one copy of the Anthology at NSW cost.

 Entrants must be a member of the North State Writers or one of the CWC NorCal Branches

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • All submissions must be received by January 15, 2018.  No submissions will be accepted after this date.
  • You may submit a maximum of 3-published or unpublished short stories and/or poems.
  • Please have each submission edited and submitted as a professional piece.
  • Entry fee is $12 for each story submitted.  The $12 nonrefundable fee pays for copy costs and beta (proof) readers who will assess each entry for quality in grammar and structure. 
  • Submit one cover page for all of your submission(s) with your name, email, phone number and story/poem title (s).  Please include on the cover sheet this statement;  I, (name here) own and convey the rights to publish this/these works (title/titles) to North State Writers for one-time publishing in their 2018 Anthology”
  • Submit all entries as an attachment to the same email.


Entries will be read and selected for the anthology anonymously.   Each entry will be issued a number to preserve anonymity.  Do not put your name on the work itself.


Works that are proselytizing, libelous or gratuitous vulgarity/obscenity will not be considered.

 MECHANICS OF SUBMISSION

  • Short story 750-5000 maximum words; 12pt Times Roman, single spacing, 5-space paragraph indent, R-L Justified. 
  • Poetry 30 lines or fewer; Submit as; 12pt Times Roman, single spacing. Word doc or docx.
  • Each entry must have a beginning, middle, and end (a chapter of a novel/book will not be accepted).
  • Email your submissions to the Anthology Technical Coordinator, Kathi Hiatt, kathihiatt@att.net
  • Entry Fees are being accepted at the member’s monthly meeting, or by check via mail at:

  • Submissions will be accepted for publishing consideration only after receipt of payment.


Submission failing to adhere to these guidelines will not be considered.

The Anthology Committee Chair will notify entrants regarding the status of their submissions prior to publication.


Professional Introduction Questions Please include a 50-word description of why you write.  It will be an introduction to your selected pieces. You may include two lines that direct readers to your URL link to your website or email address so your readers can contact you.  Please do not submit the URL link to your published book(s) on Amazon.
